1987 Press Photo Bonneville Power Administration Alan P O'Kelly, Maurice F Hatch

Description
Historic agreement, marketing the first time the federal government has contracted to buy electrical power from a Northwest plant with private investor ownership, is signed in Portland. It provides for purchase by the Bonneville Power Administration and Bureau of Reclamation of the initial output of power from a $113 million coal-fired plant to be built near Centralia, Wash. From the left are (seated) Alan P. O'Kelly, attorney for Washington Water Power Co.; Maurice F. Hatch, vice president-power supply, WWP; Russell Richmond, administrator, BPA, Portland; (standing) Hector Durocher, BPA, Portland; Wendell J. Satre, executive vice president, WWP, and Bernard Goldhammer, BPA. WWP and Pacific Power & Light Co. of Portland will build the facility.
