David S. Youngerman, 24, who so excelled in math that he entered a program for his doctorate degree at age 16, suffered from paranoidschizophrenia when he entered his parents` Evanston home and tried to kill his father, Irwin Youngerman, 3 1/2 years ago, said Dr. Robert Reifman, director of the Psychiatric Institute of Cook County.David Youngerman is charged with attempted murder, armed violence and aggravated battery.``He felt his father was evil,`` Reifman said. ``He (thought) if he killed his father, he would remove the evil and by removing the evil he would be all right. That`s psychotic.``
