United States Consul James M. MacFarland of the American Consulate General in Hamburg, tries to judge two samples of squash during the first all-German squash contest at Kiel. MacFarland, a passionate gardener, became well-known in Germany after German amateur gardeners this year. He had received that many requests after discussing year. He was asked to serve on the judges' committee when the squash contest was first conceived.
