Vice presidential nominee Nelson Rockefeller is sworn in before the House Judiciary Committee in Washington where he appeared on his nomination. Nelson Aldrich Rockefeller (July 8, 1908 – January 26, 1979) was the 41st Vice President of the United States (1974–1977), serving under President Gerald Ford, and the 49th Governor of New York (1959–1973), as well as serving the Roosevelt, Truman and Eisenhower administrations in a variety of positions. A member of the Rockefeller family, he was also a noted businessman, art collector, and philanthropist.
