Description
Doretha Simmons stood at home with her three other children, James (left), Karen and Sandy. Nineteen-year-old Reggie Simmons had a job. With his new earnings, he indulged himself with two new pairs of Adidas. One pair were high tops. One pair were low tops. Otherwise, the shoes were identical. Still in sea-blue boxes, the shoes rest atop his bureau now. He had hoped they'd take him many places. Instead, Simmons died footsteps from his home, a casualty in a convenience store holdup last week.

Photo measures 9.25 x 7.25 inches. Photo is dated 05-21-1989.
