1959 Press Photo People Walk As Streets Are Flooded From River Thames

Description
Floods at Maidenhead: Boatmen ferried trapped families to safety today as flood water from the River Thames encircled Maidenhead homes. Emergency calls were answered by many riverside boat builders. Punts, were also used in the rescue work. Photo Shows They had to "walk the plank" in Maidenhead High Street today to keep clear of the invading flood waters. Wardens in rubber boots kept watch in case anyone wanted help.
