1968 Press Photo Artist David Shephard With Purchased Locomotives British Rail

Artist Buys Two Locomotives from British Rail. Following a highly successful exhibition of his wild life paintings, the well known artist, David Shepherd, whose two main interests in life are railways and the preservation of wild life, has purchased two steam locomotives from British Railways. This weekend the two locomotives No. 75029, a BR Class 4, and No. 92203, a BR Class 9F, travelled down from Crewe, coupled together, to the British Rail depot at Cricklewood, in North London. and today they were travelling to their final destination at Longmoor Military Railway, near Liss, Hampshire, where David Shepherd, can get up steam, polish them, and paint them (on canvas) to his heart's content. Mr. Shepherd's home is Winkworth Farm, Godalming, Surrey. Photo Shows: Artist David Shepherd is pictured with his two locomotives at Cricklewood depot today, before they left for their final destination at Longmoor Military Railway, Hampshire, today.
