Description
EVEN GOOD NEIGHBORS HAVE PROBLEMS. Argentine and Chile are good South American neighbors - but from time to time they have their problems. Following a frontier incident in which a Chilean carabineros was killed and another seriously injured there were several outrages in Chile against Argentina, during which police had to be called out to prevent an serious incident. A bust of Argentina's historic statesman, Domingo Faustino Sarmiento was thrown into the Mampocho River at Santiago de Chile. Most of the outrages were carried out by students. Similar events took place in Argentina - but the situation gradually improved.
