Caption: This is artist?s conception of U.S. Navigation Aid Satellite shot into orbit today from Cape Canaveral, Florida. Candy-striped pattern is satellite?s unique band antenna, painted around spherical surface. Protruding bands hold solar cells which employ sun?s energy to charge batteries that operate the space messenger?s batteries.
