Caption: Group files suit after rabbi's talk is canceled: A group that is sponsoring a lecture by militant Rabbi Meir Kahane is seeking a court order requiring the city of Southfield to provide their speaker with a room for his address. The Jewish idea, a New York-based non-profit organization filed suit in Oakland County Circuit Court Monday, charging that the city reneged on a contract to rent the room for the speech, which was to be held tonight at 8 p.m. Kahane, the founder of the Jewish Defense League, was to deliver a talk title "West Bank Destiny: Jewish Rights vs. Arab Power." The suit charges that city officials agreed to rent Room 115 of the Parks and Recreation Building in the civic center.
