Caption: Why bring race into hostage issue?Why make the Jones captive a black and white issue ("Detroit was hurt by lack of black interest," Free Press Jan. 27)?Every American was rooting for all the hostages - not white or black -to come home.My prayers went up daily for them all. I didn't pray for one, I prayed for them all.Sure Jones should feel angry about being abused, but to say blacks lacked interest is ridiculous. Freedom is the issue, not race.-Mary C. Taylor.
