Caption: Three people view a statue of the man most revered by residents of Hamtramck -- Karol Wojtyla, known as Pope John Paul II. The monument has been unveiled in the new $200,000 Karol Wojtyla Park, at the corner of Jos. Campau and Belmond. Weighing in at 6,000 pounts, the towering bronze pontiff was scheduled to arrive from New York in time for the park's dedication ceremony Sept. 5 but was delayed because the sculptor Ferenc Verga of Florida, decided at the last minut to have it recast.
