Caption: FARMERS EVACUATE DROUGHT-STRICKEN FARMS. DRIVEN FROM THEIR FARM,BAKED TO A BROWN DUST BY PROLONGED DROUGHT, THESE NEBRASKA FARMERS WERE PHOTOGRAPHED AS THEY MOVED THEIR HOUSEHOLD GOODS AND WHAT FEW IMPLEMENTS THEY HAVE TO GREENER FIELDS. THE USE OF ANY AND ALL TYPES OF FARM ANIMALS TO HAUL THE WAGONS TELLS PART OF THE STORY OF SUFFERING AND PRIVATION IN THE DISTRICT STRICKEN BY THE DROUGHT. THIS SCENE WAS NEAR ARCADIA, NEBRASKA. THE PHOTO WAS MADE BY A FARM AGENT WHO HELPED THE FARMERS OBTAIN NEW LOCATIONS. (JWC--CX 6--28--34) FS (RENPI) 4537.
