Shown above is the original building of St. Joseph's Catholic church at Dean and Walnut, dedicated May 15, 1890. The corner, now occupied by a brick church and other parish buildings, was purchased in 1888, The pioneer chapel was old and moved in 1903. to make way for the present church. The old church is located at Dean and Ash, and is used by a colored church organization. The parish will celebrate its golden jubilee anniversary, May 12 to 15.
