The Lord Mayor acts as judge at the court of Husting at the Guildhall: One of the first duties of the Lord Mayor - Sir Leslie Boyce was today to act as Judge at the Court of Hustings held at the Guildhall . This is the first time that the Court has been held at the Guildhall since 1942. More than 800 years ago the jurisdiction of the court extended over all Civil actions but now it is used only for the registration of deeds. The court of Hustings superseded the ancient assembly of citizens known as ''folkmoot''. Photo shows Desmond Heap the controller reads his brief - showing behind the Lord Mayor and the Judges during the ancient Court at the Guildhall today.
