Description
Caption: FEDORA HOROWITZ, is the guiding force behind the Lyric Chamber Ensemble, one of the plethora of performing groups made up of local musicians (usually including some Detroit Symphony Orchestra Members) whose burgeoning concert series provide the potential for enlivening Detroit's musical scene.Horowitz demonstrated a consistent musicality throughout the program. Her technique is solid and secure, and she always used it for artistic ends. There was individuality in her playing, yet she never blurred the composers'intentions. Obviously, she had taken care to prepare the program thoroughly, and the preparation paid off in vital, intensive performances. An Israeli-born pianist played a Bosendorfer Imperial Concert Grand, a mammoth 9-1/2-foot long instrument with 97 keys. (The concert grands normally used in American halls are seven or nine feet long, and have a standard keyboard of 88 keys.).
