A Rebel Negro armed and on his guard, engraving by Johnson (London, 1974), which depicts the resistance to slavery throughout the 300 years of Haitis colonial history. On view in The French Revolution and the Americas: Prelude to the Haitan Revolution, at The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, 515 Lenox Avenue at 135th Street, from February 2 - June 3, 1989.
