Description
Ernest Collins at 68 a dairy farmhand again. At 15, Ernest Collins left the family farm to become a dairy farm hired hand at 50 cents a day. At 68, Ernest left retirement to become a hired hand again at $4.25 an hour. The pay seems like a lot more, but after 50 years of inflation maybe it isn't. The technology seems to have made the life a lot easier, but maybe it hasn't. For almost half his life, Collins has worked for farmers. In that time he has worked for farmers. In that time he has seen many changes in diary farming and in his role as a hired farm worker.
