Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
Students and teachers played volleyball at the church that serves as their school. Classes in the rural Guiding Light Scool in Shell Lake, Wisconsin, begin with morning hymns, followed by prayer. The school of seven students is one of about 170 small, private Christian schools in the state, according to the State Department of Public Instruction. Most students are the children of Duane LeVeau, a farmer and lay minister. He has 11 children, but only five are school age. Two other children from the community also attend the school, which opened 10 years ago. (Wisconsin - Schools)
