Furniture ETC From Rothschild's Ferrieres To Be Sold At Sotheby's: Magnificent 18-th century French furniture etc, from Ferrieres, the vast Rothschild estate near Paris, will be put up for sale by Baron Guy de Rothschild at Sotheby's on Friday, 24 November. There will be 34 lots in the sale, most of them from the collection of Baron Alphonse de Rothschild who died in 1905. Photo shows The principal piece of furniture is a small side cabinet made circa 1775 by Martin Carlin, inset with four large Sevres procelain plaques painted with flowers, with a white marble top, two drawers and a pair of doors. It is of a very rare and possibly unique type by this cabinet maker and can be classed among the best small pieces of Louis XVI furniture ever made. It is expected to bring in excess of ~100,000 and thus become the fourth piece of furniture to exceed this figure.
