August 3 marks Peter Jennings' Silver Anniversary with ABC News. Mr Jennings, the Anchor and Senior Editor of "World News Tonight," joined the network in 1964 as a National Correspondent, based at first in New York and later assigned to cover the South. He anchored the evening newscast, "Peter Jennings with the News," from 1965 through 1967, and spent most of the next 15 years overseas. From 1969 until 1975, he was Beirut Bureau Chief, and in 1977 he was named ABC News Chief Foreign Correspondent and reassigned to London. The following year, he was given an added assignment as Foreign Desk Anchor for "World News Tonight," joining Frank Reynolds in Washington and Max Robinson in Chicago. After Mr. Reynolds death in 1983, Mr. Jennings moved to New York for his present assignment,.
