1946 Press Photo The Church Of Notre Dame In Lima, Peru; Saved By Blessed Martin

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
The church is the site of the legend of Blessed Martin. In 1534 the Rimac River rose so high that it threatened to engulf the church. Blessed Martin ran to the river and chose three stones in the name of the Holy Trinity, placed them carefully and prayed, saving Notre Dame.
