Thelma Mills wears a map like a medal, on her lapel. A fair-sized gold pin with the geographical markings delicately engraved and Nigeria's boundaries clearly marked, it is a medal, in a sense. It was presented to her by the YWCA of Lagos, Nigeria, in appreciation for three months spent there as a volunteer consultant on building operations.
