Lute Jerstad hasn't climbed a mountain in three years, but that doesn't mean he hasn't been eating the freeze-dried food that he customarily carries in climbing expeditions.
The dry food can appeal to the least adventuresome flatlanders not purely for its level sustenance, but for its nutrition, flavor and ease of preparation, Jerstad said recently in an interview.
When the food is reconstituted, he said diners are hard-pressed to distinguished the free-dried food from fresh.
