Description
Iverson Burnett Hotel celebrates his golden waiting anniversary According to legend, the present head waiter at the Portland hotel stayed on the sidewalk until the place was finished then walked in and got a job. That isn't just the way Iverson Burnett, 221 N. Hancock street, heard it, however, and he should know. Last week Head Waiter Burnett started his second half century in the dining room of the famous old hostelry on S.W. 6th Avenue. The Portland, which was ten years old that June 8, 1900 when Burnett checked in from New York via Salt lake City, does claim, in him, the oldest hotel employee in the nation from the standpoint of continuous service.
