1935 Press Photo Mr & Mrs J. Andy Zenge testify at son Mandeville's trial

Description
Mandeville Zenge was famous in his day. He was jilted by his fiancee, Louise Schaffer, a nurse in Kirksville, and Zenge followed the man she left him for -- a professor at the medical school there -- to a hotel in Ann Arbor, where he stayed under an assumed name He held Dr. Walter Bauer at gunpoint and forced him to drive to Chicago. There he tied him up in a cemetery and castrated him. The victim survived long enough to identify his attacker. Zenge faked his own suicide, but was captured nonetheless.
