THE SOVIET LINER ROSSIA SAILED FROM NEW YORK APRIL 7TH WITHOUT CARGO OR MAIL AND HER PASSENGERS WERE FORCED TO CARRY THEIR OWN BAGGAGE BECAUSE AMERICAN LONGSHOREMEN FLATLY REFUSED TO LOAD CARGO DESTINED FOR RUSSIA. THE STEVEDORES FEEL THAT "WE ARE ALMOST AT WAR WITH RUSSIA AND WE DON'T WANT THE STUFF SHOT BACK AT US." ROSSIA PASSENGERS SOME OF WHOM ARE PALESTINIANS RECALLED TO THEIR HOMES CARRY THEIR OWN BAGGAGE AS THEY BOARD THE SHIP Photo measures 9 x 7 inches. Photo is dated 04-07-1948.
