Mayor William O'Dwyer of New York (center) cuts the tape to open the Freedom Train to New Yorkers. Train arrived at Grand Central Station today (Sept 24) and will be open to the public Sept 25. At left is Grover Whalen and at right is Winthrop W Aldrich, chairman of the board of trustees of the American Heritage Foundation, sponsor of the train. The Freedom Train bears 130 priceless documents dealing with the most important milestones in American history. Photo measures 9 x 7.25 inches. Photo is dated 9-24-1947.
