One hundred and fifty represenatives of state, educational, church and racial organizations, who are backing a state bill to outlaw racial discrimination in education institutions, met at a luncheon sponsored y the State Committee Against Discrimination in Education at the Hotel New Yorker on Sept. 23rd. Principal speakers at the luncheon were: (left to right) Alvin Johnson, Chairman of the Committee; Stephen S. Wise, President of the American Jewish Congress; Irving M. Ives, Republican candidate for U.S. Senator; (seated left to right) Newbold Morris, Former President of the New York City Council; and former Governor Herbert H. Lehman, democratic candidate for U.S. Senator. Photo measures 9 x 7.25 inches. Photo is dated 09-23-1946.
