Description
Young and old alike enjoyed the fast-paced action of the Bernie Koenig Memorial Grand Prix Kart Race, held Saturday in the parking lot of Paradise Mall in West Bend. Several custom-built Go Karts--some with 5-horsepower engines and some with manual transmission--soomed around the track, at times reaching speeds of 60 miles per hour. The event, a fund-raiser for the West Bend Kiwanis Club, was held this year in honor of Bernie Koenig, past president of the Early Risers Kiwanis Club, who died of a heart attack last fall. Right: Straw bales fly when an accident sends four karts into the wall. None of the drivers was hurt. Above: Scott Liska of New Berlin waves the checkered flag at the winner.

Photo measures 9.75 x 5.5 inches. Photo is dated 09-21-1994.
