Women In Japanese Car Industry. The days of dainty fan-fluttering "Madam Butterflies" are over in modern Japan, she has been replaced by hard-working, Yen-earning,women and girls,who have managed to penetrate into almost every type of employment, including the automobile industry. In the fairly newly established Japan Automatic Transmission company'a factory at Fuji City in the Shizuoka Prefecture, a good percentage of the 800 employees are women and girls assembling automatic transmission units, the goal for 1972 is 220,000 units.
