Britain's Tony Jacklin in a Spot of Bother in the Open Golf Championship Britain's Tony Jacklin, who shares the lead with Lee Trevino (USA) in the Open Golf Championship at Royal Birkdale Southport, found himself in a spot of bother yesterday. He hit a glorious drive down the 8th fairway, but his ball lodged in the crowd against a binocular case. After consulting the referee he was given a free drop and putted well to par the hole. Photo Shows: Tony Jacklin drops the ball over his shoulder after consulting the referee on the 8th when his ball came to rest beside a binocular case in the crowd.
