A different kind of Escort for the Household Cavalry: Ian Brown, a 14-year-old pupil at the Woodlands School for physically Handicapped children in Plymouth, sent an old picture postcard of Horse Guards to the Household Cavalry decided, rather that try to personalise the building in a letter, that it would be much better if Ian, together with his mother, could be brought up to Lonodn to see it for himself. Today, the day of the State Opening of Parliament, Ian and his mother were taken to Wellington Barracks, for a conducted tour of the Barracks and watch the Household Cavalry preparing for the State Opening. They were then being taken to Horse Guards where Ian was being shown the building and where he will also had an advantage point for watching the Procession as it drivers through Horse Guards. After visiting the stables of the Queen's Life Guard, he will watch the return Procession and then taken back to Wellington Barracks, where a reception has been arranged for him in the Warrant Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers Mess.
