Photo Shows: Three of the children seen at one of the cottage windows. John James, the Shropshire man emerged for the first time to contact authorities. He carried his shotgun under his arm. James walked six paces to an outhouse wall and collected a loaf of bread, a tin of luncheon meat, and water left by Mr. Tom Hadlington, his brother-in-law. It is now six days since James barricaded himself in the cottage with his wife Joyce and four young children.
