Ex-Bus conductress wins £100,000 divorce award: A former bus conductress, Miss Betty Rose, 52, received a divorce court settlement worth more than £100,000 from her husband, Mr. John Rose, a wealthy businessman, yesterday. Mrs. Rose was granted to decree ~~~~ because of the adultery of her husband, also 52. The judge approved the financial agreement between husband and wife, and under the terms of the settlement Mrs.Rose is to receive a cash sum of £75,000, maintenance of £7,500 a year, less tax, and the lease for life of the £25,000 flat where she is living. After the hearing, Mrs. Rose said that at the time of their marriage, in 1941 he was a private in the army and she was a bus conductress. Mr. Rose is now chairman of Land Investors Ltd and a millionaire. Photo shows Mrs. Rose picture at her £25,000 Kensington flat yesterday after being awarded a settlement worth more than £100,000 in the Divorce Court.
