Description
Caption: Asheville, N.C. -- Surrounded by stately trees in the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest which will be dedicated on July 30, is the boulder on which a bronze plaque will be set for the unveiling ceremony. The rock stands in the center of 3,840 acres of virgin forest in the heart of the Timberland, part of the Blue Ridge Mountains, 75 miles southwest of Asheville. The dedication will take place on the eighteenth anniversary of the day on which the soldier-poet author of "Trees" was killed in the Battle of the Ourcq.
