Caption: MIXING WATERY SOLUTIONTHE COAGULATED LATEX, SOFT DOUGHY CHUNKS OF RAW RUBBER PRECIPITATED BY MIXING ACETIC (FORMIC) ACID WITH THE WATERY SOLUTION, RESEMBLES RATHER THIN CREAM (CALLED LATEX), IN WHICH RUBBER EXISTS AS MINUTE GLOBULES WHEN TAPPED FROM THE TREES. TREES AVERAGE FOUR TO FIVE POUNDS ANNUALLY.
