Caption: FIRST GOVERNOR: William Hull, first Governor of Michigan Territory, was one of the most esteemed young officers of the Revolutionary Army. Following the war he entered into the civil and political life of Massachusetts, becoming a judge. He was 51 years old when appointed Governor of the new Territory.
