Preserving History: Identifying the real Rosie the Riveter

Preserving History: Identifying the real Rosie the Riveter

We are thrilled that our digitization and data preservation efforts have helped to verify the identity of the original "Rosie the Riveter" as Miss Naomi Parker, as she appeared in 1942, manning a turret lathe in Alameda, California.

The actual inspiration for Rosie has long been a bit of a mystery, as several ladies who helped with the manufacturing effort during the War had claimed to be Rosie, but one of our photos found by researchers on eBay helped to clarify Rosie's identity for posterity as Mrs. Naomi Fraley (nee Parker).

Our hearts go out to Ms. Fraley's family in their time of loss, but we are honored to have been a part in helping to secure her rightful place in history as our iconic "Rosie."
