Caption: New Detroit Lions Head Coach-- Don McCafferty smiles in Detroit Friday at an afternoon news conference where it was announced he would be the head couch of the Detroit Lions football team. McCafferty replaces head couch Joe Schmidt, who resigned. McCafferty was with the Baltimore Colts as head couch until he was replaced after five games of the regular 1972 season.
